The Easter Bonnet Contest is one of Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS major annual fundraisers where every spring, the casts of Broadway companies, after raising money put on a show, with each company doing a sketch around the presentation of their Easter Bonnet.
The 2008 edition is one of the most entertaining in years. Trhe opening number effectively spoofs reality programming; the closer has Anika Noni Rose singing Help is on the Way. And the content in between covers the gamut from touching to charming to hilarous. A particularly poignant moment has cast members from Rent, past and present, in what will be their last presentation before they close.
