Just got back from seeing Maureen McGovern in A Long and Winding Road at Arena Stage-in-Exile-in-Crystal -City.
I’ll link to my official review in Cabaret Scenes when they post it on their Web site. But in short — WOW!!!
McGovern provides an amazing presentation of Baby Boomer memories. But she is a consummate musical storyteller. And she really draws the audience in: sitting in Row K, I felt like I was on stage with her! And she has the wisdom to know what is effective in her voice at present — no “recovering soprano” she! And Jeff Harris’s work on piano is simply awe-inspiring.
The show only runs through April 12 — so don’t delay.
