African Continuum Theater recreates the Renaissance Ballroom

A lively event, unlike any other, Sunday, November 22, 2009, 3-6 p.m., at the Atlas PAC, 1333 H St., NE, Washington, DC, featuring special guest, Julia Nixon, former Broadway Dreamgirl and others. – Lively Theatre Event!

November 22, 2009 — This African Continuum Theatre Co. special event re-creates the energy and excitement of a lively 1940s style cabaret, reminiscent of nights at the New York Harlem’s Renissance Ballrom. Event hosted by Cynee Simpson, anchor, ABC-7/WJLA-TV & Newschannel 8, Julia Nixon, former Broadway “Dreamgirl”, noted pianist, Richard E. Payne, performances by two dance couples from the National Hand Dance Association performing the original lindy-hop and jitterbug dance steps, along with a scene from the upcoming play, The Old Settler.
