Forever 27…

Dixie Carter sings John Wallowitch Live at the CarlyleSad news about the passing of Dixie Carter, who first impressed me in the mid-Seventies when I saw her on the show On Our Own in an episode where she sang The Laziest Gal in Town supine on a piano.

Carter had an extensive cabaret career, along with her other work, appearing in the revues at Upstairs at the Downstairs (with Madeline Kahn and Lily Tomlin) in the Sixties, championing the work of John Wallowich, up to recent appearances at the Carlyle.

And of course the CD of her Wallowich show is one of the great cabaret recordings ever !

BTW, check out Emily Everson’s lovely tribute to Dixie Carter
