Lena Horne Tribute at Blues Alley

Wow, what a great tribute to Lena Horne at Blues Alley Wednesday night !

Stormy Weather: The Life of Lena HorneJames Gavin, author of Stormy Weather: The Life of Lena Horne put together a great informative program.  Especially fabulous were the performances by jazz divas Paula West and Rebecca Parris, superbly accompanied by George Mesterhazy on piano and Amy Shook on bass.

I’ll link to my official Cabaret Scenes review when it’s online.

Here were the songs:

  • As Long as I Live — Rebecca Parris
  • Ill Wind– Paula West
  • Honeysuckle Rose– Rebecca Parris
  • Why Was I Born? — Paula West
  • It’s All Right With Me– Paula West
  • Come Sunday– Rebecca Parris
  • It’s Not Easy Being Green– Rebecca Parris
  • A Lady Must Live– Paula West
  • Yesterday When I Was Young– Rebecca Parris
  • Stormy Weather– Paula West
  • Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man of Mine — Paula West & Rebecca Parris
