Quartetto Romantico – Mandolin Music from Italy

The Baltimore Mandolin Quartet is a “quartetto romantico” in the Italian tradition, combining the silvery brightness of bowlback mandolins and mandola with the mellow richness of the classical guitar. This evening’s performance includes the works of past masters of the mandolin and new arrangements and original compositions by mandolist Jonathan Jensen.

Composer Jimmy Webb is the only artist to ever receive Grammy awards for music, lyrics & orchestration. He is a member of the National Academy of Popular Music Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. He is best known for the instant classics he provided for such artists as Glen Campbell (“By The Time I Get To Phoenix,” “Wichita Lineman” and “Galveston”), Richard Harris (“MacArthur Park,” “Didn’t We”), the Fifth Dimension (“Up, Up and Away,” “This Is Your Life”), The Brooklyn Bridge (“Worst That Could Happen”), Art Garfunkel (“All I Know”), Linda Ronstadt (“Easy For You To Say”), Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson (“The Highwayman”) and Joe Cocker (“The Moon’s A Harsh Mistress”). The evening promises to be unforgettable as this master songwriter performs his classics and new songs destined to become classics.
