Mrs. Robert Altman of Potomac, Maryland is currently giving the latest in a series of musicales at the Regency Hotel in New York. The NYTimes weighs in: “Opening Wednesday’s show with a swing-free version of Rickie Lee Jones’s “Danny’s All-Star Joint” and closing with a joyless “I Go to Rio,” Ms. Carter delivered strained karaokelike performances in which she hit all the notes without pumping much life into the songs. A slightly slowed-down version of “The Loco-Motion” halfheartedly tried to transform that ’60s dance hit into a sexy come-on. “Heat Wave” sounded more like a march than a delirious cry of romantic exultation.”
