Strathmore

March 3, 2008

I am embarrassed to admit that this was my first visit to the concert hall at Strathmore.

What a terrific venue!

And it’s probably the most user-friendly of the larger venues in town.  The location is near ideal, next to a Metro station (for urbanites) and near to the Beltway (for suburbanites).  And even free parking.  There is a very attractive café, convenient bars, and interesting snack options.

The inside of the hall is spectacular. The rake of seating in the audience makes the sightlines amazing, and the sound was terrifically alive.  The seats were extremely comfortable, with enough width even for someone of my avoirdupois and enough legroom for someone of Ron’s height.

Getting out of the parking garage was a bit of a wait, but no worse than it can be at the Kennedy Center.
