What is Lina Koutrakos?

Lina Koutrakos is a star, and as the closing act of the inaugural National Capital Cabaret Festival she showed why. She commanded the stage and the audience with superb vocals and gripping storytelling with material covering all corners of the Great (and Emerging) American Songbook including an original composition. She was ably supported by Jon Weber who could rock out or provide quiet nuance as necessary.

It was great seeing local members of the cabaret community in the audience both paying homage and gaining inspiration. If you weren’t there she sang:

  • The Heart Of Saturday Night
  • Ahmad’s Blues
  • When In Rome
  • Lazy Afternoon
  • Ode to Billy Joe
  • Mess Outta Love
  • One For My Baby
  • Addicted To Love
  • But Beautiful
  • That’s All
  • Small Day Tomorrow
  • Walkin’ In Memphis
  • I Remember
  • You Send Me
  • Encore: You Go To My Head

Here’s my Cabaret Scenes review.
